A new disc golf course is now open 6 miles west I-43 near Manitowoc on Hwy JJ. Lower Cato Falls County Park has been a beautiful park for fishing, picnicing and hiking for many years. Recently the county parks dept., local businesses, disc golf volunteers and the Transitions Advisory Committee of the Chamber of Manitowoc County have teamed up to create a championship layout disc golf course. Five Manitowoc County school districts (Manitowoc, Two Rivers, Valders, Reedsville and Brillion) have assisted as well as Sheboygan and Manitowoc disc golfers.
Both professional and amateur golfers will share the fairways with many of the same elements that make Silver Creek Park in Manitowoc one of the most popular courses in the state of Wisconsin. Park improvements continue in 2012 with over 100 trees and 100 saplings planted, truckloads of chips being spread and a donation tube at hole number one to seed future improvements. Interested basket-bench sponsors and volunteers can send email to discgolf@discoverwisc.com.
ANNOUNCEMENT: Lower Cato Falls has been selected again as the 2nd course for this years' Manitowalk in the Park tournament. Players will play one round at Silver Creek and one round at Lower Cato Falls. Many thanks go out to the school districts and Adam Backus, County Parks Supervisor, for making this a signature course for Eastern Wisconsin!
